Event Spamming

I apologise to those of you who just got 5 event invitations AND 2 corrections... FaceBook is more than a little clunky when it comes to Event handling; no repeats, no automation, and when the guest list is made up it instists on sending email blasts and notifications to everyone!

So the question I'm asking, is Iguess, whether the FaceBook events should be left empty of guests, so that people can sign up themselves - is voluntary participation better than spam?
